MANILA – The
Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) on Monday
rescheduled some road
closures along Roxas
Boulevard due to adjustments in the construction
timeline of the Light Rail
Transit Line 1 (LRT-1)
Cavite Extension project.
In an advisory,
the LRMC said the road
closure is necessary for
the construction of a pedestrian footbridge that is
part of the Redemptorist
Station still under construction.
“The road closure is necessary to ensure safety during the
girder installation works,”
it said.
The northbound
portion of Roxas Blvd.
(going to Manila) will be
closed beginning 10 p.m
Monday (May 8) until 5
a.m. Tuesday.
In addition, the
Roxas Blvd. Service Road
near Baclaran Church will
be closed beginning 10
p.m. Thursday (May 11)
until 5 a.m. Friday.
The road closures were earlier scheduled on May 2 to 3 and
May 5 to 6 respectively.
“The rail line
apologizes for the temporary inconvenience, and
seeks for everyone’s understanding and cooperation,” it said.
As of March,
the LRMC said the LRT1 Cavite Extension has
reached a progress rate
of 82.7 percent and is on
track to complete phase
1 and begin operation by
the final quarter of 2024. (PNA)
