
Victoria, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the province of Laguna reminds all
Laguna-based service and repair shop enterprises
to renew their accreditation on or before 31 January
2024 without penalty.
Under Presidential Decree No. 1572 as
amended by Article 128 of the Republic Act (RA)
7394, otherwise known as the Consumer Act of the
Philippines, no person shall operate a repair and
service firm or act as technical personnel therein
without first being accredited by the DTI.
The accreditation of repair and service
shops and their technical personnel aims to protect
the interest of the consumers availing their services.
The accreditation, likewise, ensures that the enterprises have the necessary tools, equipment, and
facilities and that its technical personnel have the
required expertise to provide the services.
In line with this, the DTI Laguna Provincial
Office accredits business enterprises engaged directly
or indirectly, in the repair, service, or maintenance of
motor vehicles; heavy equipment and engines and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air-conditioning,
and refrigeration; office machine and data processing
equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other
consumer mechanical and industrial equipment, appliances, or devices.
DTI will continue to ensure strict compliance
of the service and repair shops with the accreditation
requirements by conducting regular monitoring and enforcement activities in the province. Cars and motorcycle
dealerships are likewise encouraged to have their facilities and services accredited by the Department whether
their repair services are offered for free or paid for by
their exclusive clientele.
