The historic Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite, took center stage as the
Philippines commemorated its 125th Independence Day on June 12, 2023. Esteemed government officials and dignitaries gathered to honor the nation’s rich
history and pay tribute to its freedom fighters.
Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin graced the occasion as the guest of honor at the ceremony
held in the very house
that once sheltered the
Philippines’ first president, Emilio Aguinaldo. Notable attendees
included Kawit Mayor
Angelo G. Aguinaldo,
Cavite 1st District Representative Jolo Revilla,
and Cavite 7th District
Representative Crispin
Diego “Ping” D. Remulla.

in celebrating the country’s independence.
The day commenced with a solemn flag-raising ceremony, where the Philippine flag waved proudly amidst the rains and the wind. The ceremony served as a
poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless individuals in the struggle for
freedom.
In addition, the provincial government and the local government unit of
Kawit organized a range of community-oriented activities. These included a job fair,
trade fair, and medical mission, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens. – CK N. Torres
