The Office of the Provincial Public Employment Service Manager, in coordination with DOLE and the Department of Migrant Workers, conducted the โCavite Protecting Lives and Rights: An Anti-Illegal Recruitment and Trafficking in Persons Campaign Seminarโ on December 1 at the New Provincial Government Center, Trece Martires City. The whole-day activity highlighted the provinceโs continuing efforts to protect Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and jobseekers from illegal recruitment and human trafficking.
Learning sessions were conducted by resource speakers from the DMW Regional Office, namely Ms. Maria Corazon C. Foncardas and Ms. Patricia C. Sison, both Labor and Employment Officers of the Department. The sessions covered key topics such as DMW programs and services, illegal recruitment, trafficking in persons, AIR- and TIP-related laws, common modus operandi, and the โ5 Paalala,โ which aim to help participants avoid becoming victims.
In the afternoon, Ms. Lovelyn Costa-Giron De Lara of the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer presented accomplishments on OFW-related programs, highlighting conducted orientations, welfare assistance provided, and reintegration programs for OFWs and their families.
Through the seminar, the Provincial Government of Cavite reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and dignity of workers by promoting awareness, education, and stronger protection against illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons.
