Hinimok ng Department of the Interior
and Local Government
(DILG) ang lahat ng local
government units (LGUs)
na magpatupad ng mga
programa na nagsusulong
sa karapatan ng mga kababaihan at pagkakapantay-pantay ng kasarian sa
kanilang nasasakupan,
sang-ayon sa Republic Act
9710 o ang Magna Carta
of Women.
“As active agents
of the government in promoting gender equality,
our LGUs must ensure the
localization of the Magna
Carta of Women to ensure that women empowerment is recognized and
mainstreamed in all sectors,” ani DILG Secretary
Benjamin Abalos, Jr. sa
18th General Assembly ng
Philippine Federation of
Local Council of Women
(PFLCW).
Kasamang dumalo ni Abalos sa PFLCW
General Assembly kahapon sa Pasay City sina
Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio at Senator Imee
Marcos.
Ayon sa Kalihim, patuloy ang pagpapatupad ng DILG ng iba’t
ibang interbensyon upang
masiguro ang pagprotekta
sa karapatan ng mga kababaihan sa bansa.
Ibinida rin ni Abalos ang
pilot run ng DILG GAD
Seal Certification Program
kung saan igagawad ang
“GAD Seal” sa mga opisina ng Kagawaran na
tumutupad sa mga layunin
ng Magna Carta of Women at iba pang batas at
polisiya sa pangangalaga
ng karapatan ng kababaihan
“This is intended
to put a premium on the
gender mainstreaming efforts implemented and adopted by the DILG regional
offices making them gender-responsive. We want
to transform the DILG into
a GAD-Centered organization promoting gender
equality and development
with social inclusion, reflecting the Department’s
commitment to creating a
more equitable and inclusive society for all,” ani Abalos.
Dagdag pa niya:
“Soon, we will roll out this
program outside the DILG
and will name local government units and other
government offices that
provide primacy to women’s rights.”

ng digital technologies
upang mas mapaunlad
ang bansa at mapaganda
ang serbisyo ng gobyerno
