TANAY, Rizal – As part of the promotion for the
ongoing application of the DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship Programs, the
Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Rizal
organized an orientation in collaboration with the Local
Government Unit (LGU) of Tanay. This was conducted
throughout the month of October in
various schools in Tanay, Rizal.
The DOST Rizal visited several schools in Tanay, namely, Rizal
Sports Academy and Tanay East Integrated National High School last 19
October, Sto. Niño Integrated National High School and Cayabu Integrated
National High School last 11 October,
Tanay Sampaloc Integrated National
High School and STI Tanay Senior
High School last 12 October, Daraitan
Integrated National High School and
Tanay West Integrated National High
School last 17 October, and Tanay
Senior High School and Laiban Integrated National High School last 20
October in response to the LGU Tanay’s request to inform the Grade 12
Senior High School (SHS) students of
the opportunities that the
DOST offers to incoming
undergraduate students.
Topics such as
undergraduate scholarships to apply for, the nature of the scholarship,
S&T priority courses,
study placement, scholarship duration, scholarship
priveliges, and scholarship
qualifications were all discussed during the orientation. The participants in
the orientation were provided with baseline information on the distribution
of scholars by municipality
in Rizal, scholars by barangay in Tanay, scholars
per barangay in Tanay,
and ongoing scholars per
barangay in Tanay. As the
office seeks to have DOST
scholars in all 188 barangays in Rizal by 2024,
DOST Rizal also requests
the unequivocal support
and utmost collaboration
in promoting the DOSTSEI Undergraduate
Scholarship from the LGU
as well as the Department
of Education (DepEd)
schools.
Starting last 17
October and running until
15 December, the online
applications for the MERIT and RA 7687 are now
open. The DOST-SEI
website, www.dost-sei.
gov.ph, has additional announcements as well as
the available downloadable forms. Together with
the LGU Tanay, the DOST
Rizal plans to return to the
upland schools and assist
the students with the on line application. PR
