TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite (PIA) — Known for its growing pineapple industry, the Department of Agriculture in CALABARZON is pushing for modernized post-harvest management in Tagaytay City, Cavite.
Last July 1, the Department of Agriculture (DA) CALABARZON launched a training as part of the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) in a bid to enhance their knowledge on modern practices on pineapple farming.
The training covered a wide range of topics including Pineapple Production and Post-Harvest Management, Pests and Diseases Identification and Management, Soil Fertility Management and, Creating Healthy Soil Through Soil Rejuventation and Safe Pest Management.
With the aid of modern technology, the training aimed to elevate pineapple production in Tagaytay City and respond to the current issues the industry faces.
In a statement, the DA CALABARZON said it hoped that the training helped local farmers improve their productivity.
“Inaasahang magsisilbing gabay ang mga kaalamang ibinahagi sa pagsasanay upang higit na mapaunlad ang produksyon ng pinya at mapalakas ang kalagayan ng mga magsasaka sa rehiyon sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng mga makabago at angkop na teknologiya.”
